photo by kitchengardeners.orgSo Thursday the lights and electricity were cut off. No not from some power failure, just plain ol fashion bill not being paid. I wont mention any names but you can only imagine how not paying the bill in the last 6 motnths would turn out if you could get out of the computer for a minute.
But I am back home today after spending the last two days at my moms smoked filled abode. Humble and thankful for her hospitality (plus a TON of other good deeds she did for me) but heavy from the second hand smoke that covered my body, clothes, hair and spirit. I showered like a mad woman. I can say that for wanting out so bad it felt so good to be back in the house.
But nothing, nothing has topped this weekend like the macaroni and cheese and hot dogs I just made for dinner. What makes this so special is it wasnt anything fancy; just some plain ol boxed Kraft mac n' cheese and some hot dogs. The topper...Lawry's seasoning salt and mustard. You heard right! That was like being ten again to me. No one eats it like that and thats ok with me, but it sure was damn good. And it made me feel ok again.
You know, I love a good ole' bowl of mac and cheese too. My kids won't touch the stuff. How sad is that? Aren't they supposed to like that kind of stuff? Anyway, glad for comfort food. And glad to hear that things are turning around in your heart... You are such an inspiration to me Veronica.
